Team rider Scott Eastwood grabs a 2nd place in the Open Division as "Team Jersey" narrowly defeated Brittany Surf Team "Surf Club des Watermen à Libres (SCWAL)"
A 30 strong Bretagne contingent from Perros Guirec region of NW France competed in SUP, Longboard, Shortboard and Bodyboard against a Jersey team built around experience and pedigree with a blend of youth.
Conditions could only be described as ideal for this time of year with a slight swell which suited the juniors and along with sunny and warm temperatures made the competition have an ‘aire’ of summer.
There was some excellent surfing from all categories with Jersey excelling in SUP by gainingtop 3 spots thanks to Aaron Rowe, Andre Le Geyt and John Harvey. Jersey gained top 2 spots in theMens Open Shortboardwith Sam George getting first place and Scott Eastwood, former British masters champion, getting 2nd. Jay clayton won the Junior boys and Claudia Cosgrove won the junior girls. Top 2 spots also went to Andre le Geyt and Aaron rowe in the Open Longboard.
The team Trophy went to Jersey gaining 19135 points and SCWAL gaining 18083 points.
As this is a perpetual trophy Team Jersey will be asked along with Team Guernsey to compete in Brittany next year along with another 3 French clubs within the region.
The Jersey CI Team organizing committee would like to thank the support of all the volunteers from all the clubs to actually make this event happen . Support from Madhatter Surf Shop, Jonno Watersports, Windmadness and The Watersplash was extremely helpful.
